The House of Albret also promoted the growth of Casteljaloux.

As soon as the XIIIth century, the springs of Neuffonds, the presence of iron ore and the abundance of timber allowed the birth of industries such as :

- iron forges,
- copper hammers,
- paper mills,
- glassworks,
- tanneries,
- rope factories especially in the place called "les Forges".
