Remains of the past
Today, many vestiges from the long domination of the Albret's still remain.
At first, the monastery of the Cordeliers (Franciscan friars).
During the XIVth and XVth centuries, the Albret's promoted the setting up of Franciscan friars. The most beautiful architectural example which remains from this period is the monastery and its chapel. For many centuries, it has been a place of prayer and burial for these lords.
Secondly, the little bridge of the Friars' former mill which dates from the XIIth and XIIIth centuries is undoubtedly the oldest Romanesque building still visible in Casteljaloux.
